Hi, I make sounds and sometimes bake cakes 🍰 here in Tokyo!

I was invited by @yukikawamura821 to a party with I was invited by @yukikawamura821 to a party with the words, “If you like 4AD, you should come.” And there I met @martin_andersen_72 , the artist behind the artwork for 4AD bands like Pixies, The Breeders, and Miki Berenyi Trio. We got talking, and it turned out that, oh my God, he actually owns one of my records. It felt like everything from my teenage years as a gloomy music nerd obsessed with 4AD bands had finally come full circle.
It’s a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You, It’s a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You,” featured in a Ralph Lauren commercial. I remember COLOR FILTER playing this song at an in-store show long ago, either at Tower Records or HMV. #mazzystar #ralph https://youtu.be/sInoVYZvotc?si=xy2KlPgUuUBuKFXf

Since Christopher Nolan makes such huge, ambitious Since Christopher Nolan makes such huge, ambitious films, I sometimes wonder if he’s the modern-day Stanley Kubrick. But watching the final scene of this movie, I also felt that Nolan might lean a little more toward the emotional side of humanity than Kubrick did.
Lou Reed has a song called “Coney Island Baby,” and I’d always wanted to visit Coney Island because of it. I took the subway from Manhattan, which took about an hour. The train eventually came above ground, and when I arrived, there was this amusement park right by the ocean. It was around this time of year, toward the end of summer. There weren’t many people around. The place was gritty, a little dirty, and wonderfully rough around the edges. Such a beautiful song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0dsDJFJ1jk
This summer, my self-study topic was quantum phase This summer, my self-study topic was quantum phase estimation. Honestly, I get stuck all the time, so I used to think, “I wish I had a science/engineering grad student as a private tutor.” But now I just ask AI whenever I get stuck, and it helps me work things out. It does hallucinate sometimes, though... For the fall and winter, I’m going to review special relativity.
My LP that @darlarecords sent me has arrived! It My LP that @darlarecords sent me has arrived! It brought back memories of the first time I saw my own record sitting on the shelves of a record store I used to visit regularly in Tokyo, alongside records by other US and UK artists. I remember being so excited inside when I saw it there for the first time.😀 Darla Recordsが送ってくれたLPが届きました！
Her new album is absolutely brilliant!! The “ind Her new album is absolutely brilliant!! The “indie” tag is becoming pretty established as a synth preset category, and while the definition is broad, it’s the kind of sound you hear in her music. It’s definitely not the same as the alternative/indie sound of the past.😀 #phoebebridgers

This is still a masterpiece I listen to all the ti This is still a masterpiece I listen to all the time. @williamorbit ’s sound design with the MS-20 and Juno-106 is insane. The filter/resonance is so aggressive, almost like the guitar sound of a post-punk band. R.I.P. R.I.P
Oh damn, this is amazing. A Junior Kimbrough cover Oh damn, this is amazing. A Junior Kimbrough covers album?? 😎 This is by Spiritualized. One of Japan's major music distributors has launch One of Japan's major music distributors has launched an online mastering service, so I'm testing it to see what LUFS levels it delivers. For those of you involved in music production, what loudness are you aiming for when mastering tracks for streaming platforms? I'd love to hear your approach.

The World Cup is in Texas right now. I've been the The World Cup is in Texas right now. I've been there twice, and while “Everything is bigger in Texas” is definitely true, that's not the whole story. The music history there—especially the blues—is amazing. I also loved the rodeo in Fort Worth and NASA's Space Center in Houston. Great memories! 2回行ったことあって、今、ミームになってる「TEXAS IS GOOD, EVERYTHING IS BIG！」 🍖🍗

When I was a student, I learned about the uncertai When I was a student, I learned about the uncertainty principle and quantum entanglement in class and was amazed, thinking, “What a mysterious world!” Around the same time, I discovered the idea of synchronicity and spent a while reading everything I could find by Jung. When the I Ching appeared in Twin Peaks, I thought, “Yes! This is exactly it.” That way of looking at the world has stayed with me throughout my life, and I feel it still forms part of the foundation of my creative thinking today. This is a really, really well-made clip! https://youtu.be/RsOjrKJ1rAQ?si=i9pb0-NxeymoMMxT I have a great deal of contempt for New Age/spiritual circles that casually throw around terms like “quantum” or “the law of attraction, by the way. https://youtu.be/RsOjrKJ1rAQ?si=i9pb0-NxeymoMMxT
